bio

Airborne Age started out as a recording project that Tony Dean (Drums/vocals) & Andy Demczuk (Guitar/vocals) formed right after graduating high school. In the winter of 2008 Tony & Andy decided that their old buddy's from their previous blues band Groove Box would be perfect for the new project. Shortly after getting Cody (Bass) and Spencer (piano/sax) on board, Andy asked one of his best friends who played music but never had jammed with them if he wanted to be in the band. This man was John-Paul (guitar). A rugged Romanian gypsy, and recycler. Practices began at an abandoned house. It was here that they started to really get their songs together (and messed around with throwing knives and fire a little too much). In the Spring of 2009 they played their first couple of local shows in Orange County and later a mini-tour around Southern California. An album (Letters of Going Away '09) and an EP (Sleep, Sweet Memories '10) were recorded and released DIY style on Ultravivid Recordings. The band has big plans for the future. and intends on keeping the songs coming.

Before I Fall Asleep

I get my best ideas right before I fall asleep, and my dreams turn them into symphonies. When I wake up I can't remember the first note, or even what key.

Jp's a thief in the night

So we recorded a new demo of a new song, using our old gear. It came out pretty cool. We did it in about 2 hours, with one mic, it was really fun. Not too much else to report right now, except to expect. Looks like the storms over for now.

Trains, Planes & Automobiles

The Fullerton Train Station, a surprisingly (or not so surprisingly) awesome place to play. Dash Jacket & Hail the Sun were fantastic as usual. We actually sold some CD's! And a homeless guy at the station, said he loved the last song we played (Letters of Going Away) but he liked the original better... hmmmm...

Show #3 is tomorrow @ Dipiazzas in Long Beach at 5pm.

Animal House

Ramona was interesting... You have to take a pretty, curvey, mountainy road to get there. It's a small little town, with a southern feel. Played the show (after which a metal-head dude abruptly came up to me and said "It felt like I was on Drugs", which is always good to hear), stayed there till 12:30 and got home at 2. Then burned copies of the album till 5am.

Tonight is going to kick ass! We have a show at the Fullerton train station (Sante Fe Cafe) with best friends Dash Jacket, and Hail the Sun. It starts at 7pm, and we go on later. We're selling "Letters of Going Away" for $5.

Hey

So i thought i'd give this blog thing a try. We'll see if i commit to this, cause you know commitments are never easy. but i figure it is worth a shot. I'm pretty stoked on some new developments happening in AA land.

First of all, after 5 months of tracking, mixing, and loosing my mind an album is finished. We are calling it "Letters of Going Away" after the first song that Tony and I wrote for this band, before it was even a band. and i think that we're all pretty happy with the way things turned out. I took a drive last night after recieving the master copy, drove through the canyon.. and I almost cried. Just everything that we put into making this album, all the emotion, scheduling, and time finally paid off.

Making an album is by far the hardest thing i've done musically.

Secondly, we are going on a tour of sorts, starting tomorrow:

Well good night!
